Paint Trends 2019 (Part 1)

interior Paint trend predictions for 2019 (part 1)

When it comes to color, there is pretty much an unlimited selection of choice. Selecting just one color is often an overwhelming task, so I am here today to shed light on what trends I am seeing for 2019. All photos below were sourced from Pinterest.

01. Moody, Muted Jewel Tones:

I think 2019 will be a year that we do NOT shy away from color, but instead use it in ways that are intentional and impactful. One of the major trends and inspiration I am seeing is MOODY spaces. Bold colors that are muted and jewel toned. People are growing more confident with the use of color, and there is no doubt that selecting bold, muted tones immediately personalizes your space.

02. Pale Colors (NOT Pastels!!) as Neutrals:

In heavy contrast to the moody, bold tones, I think we are also going to see a lot of very pale, light colors that act as neutrals. These are more muted in tone than pastels, and because of that, will be incredibly versatile. While Millennial pink appears to be on its way out, all of it’s lighter or more muted tones, remain strong for trends of 2019. I see these outlasting some of these other pale colored “neutrals” due to it’s incredible versatility.

03. Minimalist White

There is no denying the flexibility of white and the often minimalist aesthetic that comes with it. I see this trend continuing strong into 2019, particularly with the launch of shows like Marie Kondo’s “tidying up” on netflix. In addition to that show, there is generally a movement back to a more simplistic “less is more” approach to design (and life).

so what do you think? what paint trends are you most excited to see in 2019?

Let me know in the comments below! Next week, I’ll share some of my favorite paint color combos that I think are right in line with these trends. I will also include a little explainer of the types of finishes for paint and what spaces to use them!
